Aretha Franklin: A Portrait Of The Queen 1970-1974. BMG has announced a new a 6LP/5CD collection of Aretha Franklin’s first five 1970s studio albums including This Girl’s In Love With You (1970), Spirit in the Dark (1970), Young Gifted and Black (1972), Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky) (1973) and Let Me In Your Life (1974) alongside session alternates, outtakes & demos. The new boxed set is produced by Cheryl Pawelski and will be available December 1, 2023.
Jordan McLeod at Osiris Studio transferred the original analog tapes so that Michael Graves could completely restore and master the 5 CD boxed set edition. The 6 LP set was cut directly from the original tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering (except the 6th LP which contains bonus material that was restored and mastered by Michael Graves).
