Bambara Mystic Soul - The Raw Sound of Burkina Faso 1974-1979 Released
For its commemorative 10th release, Analog Africa explores Burkina Faso’s golden age of recording during the mid to late 1970’s. The raw sound of Burkina Faso combined Afro-Funk, traditional Islamic rhythms and subtle Afro-Latin sounds introduced by visiting Cuban ensembles. Mandingue melodies and guitar techniques from Mali and Guinea however were by far the most defining traits of a potent African mix that distinguished the Voltaic style between 1974 and 1979. From its early catalog Landslide Records re-issues 2 digital only releases; Dan Wall’s recording debut, Song For The Night and Route Two, a jazz trio album led by the late percussionist David Earle Johnson featuring guitarist John Abercrombie and Dan Wall on organ. Analog Africa re-releases the extremely rare first album by Rob "Roy" Raindorf, one of the most enigmatic artists to come out of Ghana in the late 1970’s. Dr. Howard Thurman Recordings Completed
Osiris Studio had completed the digitization and preservation of 3 rare reel-to-reel tapes containing some of the last sermons given by Dr. Howard Thurman for Emory University’s Pitts Theology Library. Thurman was an influential American author, philosopher, theologian, educator and civil rights leader.
Ain’t No Grave: The Life and Legacy of Brother Claude Ely Released
Ain’t No Grave: The Life and Legacy of Brother Claude Ely was released on Dust-to-Digital. The Pentecostal preacher,Brother Claude Ely was highly influential to the likes of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, James Brown, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. The CD contained within the 360-page hardback biography features rare and electrifying audio recordings of Pentecostal worship services in the mountains of Kentucky and Virginia accompanied by a fiery sermon preached by Brother Claude Ely.
